Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about getting started and using DeskReset.

Most questions come down to three things: syncing your work calendar, understanding how workouts get scheduled around your day, and how the free trial works. You'll find all of that below.

Getting Started
What is DeskReset?

DeskReset is a bodyweight fitness app designed for people who work at a desk. It schedules short workout and exercise breaks around your existing calendar — fitting movement into the gaps in your day rather than asking you to carve out a separate gym session.

No equipment, no gym, no large blocks of time required. A 5-minute reset between meetings counts.

What do I need to get started?

Just an Android phone and a roughly 2×2 metre space. Download the app, answer a few quick questions about your activity level and goals, and you're ready.

Connecting a calendar is optional — the app works without it, though calendar integration lets DeskReset schedule workouts around your actual meetings.

Does DeskReset work without connecting a calendar?

Yes. Without calendar access, DeskReset suggests workouts throughout your day based on your office hours. You can accept, swap, or remove any suggestion.

Connecting a calendar gives the app a fuller picture of when you're actually free, so suggestions land in real gaps rather than during meetings. You can connect a calendar at any time from Settings.

Calendar Setup
I use Outlook for work — how do I get it into DeskReset?

DeskReset reads calendars synced to your Android device. Outlook calendars need to be synced first — here's how:

  1. 1Open the Outlook app on your phone
  2. 2Tap your profile photo → Settings
  3. 3Tap your account name → toggle Sync Calendar on
  4. 4Open DeskReset → Settings → Calendar preferences → Re-run setup
  5. 5Your Outlook calendar will now appear in the list — tap to select it
It may take a minute or two for Outlook to complete its first sync before events appear.
I use Google Calendar for work — do I need to do anything?

No extra steps needed. If your work Google calendar is already on your phone it will appear automatically in DeskReset's calendar picker during setup.

If you have multiple Google accounts on your device, each one's calendars will be listed separately so you can pick exactly which ones DeskReset should read.

Can DeskReset see my meeting titles or details?

No. DeskReset only reads whether a time slot is busy or free. It never reads meeting titles, descriptions, attendees, or any other event content.

All calendar processing happens on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

DeskReset isn't seeing my calendar — what do I do?

Try these steps in order:

  1. 1Open the Android Calendar app and confirm your events are actually visible there — if they aren't, the calendar isn't synced to your device yet
  2. 2Check that DeskReset has calendar permission: Android Settings → Apps → DeskReset → Permissions → Calendar
  3. 3In DeskReset, go to Settings → Calendar preferences → Re-run setup and check whether your calendar appears in the list

If you're still stuck, email us at help@deskresetapp.info and include which calendar app you use.

What is the "write calendar" and which one should I choose?

When you accept a workout, DeskReset can add a calendar block so the time shows as busy to others. The write calendar is where those blocks get added.

Pick whichever calendar you view most — usually your personal Google calendar. You don't have to use this feature at all, and you can change or disable it at any time in Settings → Calendar preferences.

What are office hours and why does DeskReset ask for them?

Office hours tell DeskReset your typical working window — for example, 8 am to 6 pm. The app uses this to limit suggestions to your actual workday, so it won't propose a desk reset at 7 am or 9 pm.

You set these during first-time setup and can adjust them anytime in Settings → Office hours.

Workouts & Scheduling
How does DeskReset decide when to suggest a workout?

DeskReset looks at your calendar (if connected) and your office hours to find free gaps in your day. It then matches workout durations to those gaps — a 20-minute window gets a short workout; a 5-minute gap gets a quick exercise.

You're always in control. You can accept, swap, or remove any suggestion, and add your own at any time.

Can I swap a suggested workout for something different?

Yes. Tap Swap on any suggestion to see alternatives. You can swap for a different workout of the same length, or switch between a full workout and a quick exercise if you want something shorter or longer.

Are the workouts safe if I have back pain or sit a lot?

DeskReset is built specifically for desk workers, so the exercise library includes movements designed to counteract prolonged sitting — hip flexor mobility, thoracic extension, posterior chain activation, and neck and shoulder relief.

Every exercise includes form guidance and notes on common mistakes. If you have an existing injury or medical condition, check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.

Subscription & Free Trial
How does the free trial work?

You get 7 days of full access, completely free. No charge until the trial ends. If you cancel before the 7 days are up, you won't be billed anything.

After the trial, a subscription is required to keep using the app — $4.99/month or $44.99/year (saving 25%).

How do I cancel before I'm charged?

Subscriptions are managed through Google Play. To cancel:

  1. 1Open the Google Play Store
  2. 2Tap your profile photo → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
  3. 3Tap DeskResetCancel subscription

You keep access until the end of your current billing period. DeskReset does not handle billing directly — all payments go through Google Play.

Can I switch between monthly and annual?

Yes. You can switch plans at any time through Google Play. The change takes effect at your next billing date — you won't be charged twice or lose any access time you've already paid for.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your workout history and settings are stored locally on your device — they're not deleted when you cancel. If you resubscribe later, everything will be right where you left it.

Privacy & Data
Does DeskReset store my data in the cloud?

Your workout history, calendar data, and app settings are stored locally on your device only. Calendar event content is never sent to any server.

Google Sign-In and subscription status are handled by Google and RevenueCat respectively — see our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Is DeskReset available on iPhone?

Not yet — DeskReset is currently Android only. An iOS version is planned. If you'd like to be notified when it's available, email us at help@deskresetapp.info.
